FAQs: Getting Your Project Started Using Wood Fiber Acoustical Panels

There are a lot of steps involved with planning even the simplest of building projects. Getting started can be the hardest part. We work extra hard to make the process of selecting the right acoustical panels for your project as simple as possible. We want to share some answers to questions we’re frequently asked by architects, contractors and business owners when they begin the process of selecting materials to meet their sound reduction needs.

These will give you a good idea of whether wood fiber acoustical panels could be a good option for your project.

In what types of facilities are your panels commonly installed?

Our wood fiber acoustical panels are great for many different types of spaces, including schools, gymnasiums, restaurants, theaters, common areas, call centers, auditoriums, gun ranges, fitness studios, anywhere there is an acoustical need.

Can I install wood fiber acoustical panels in an existing building?

Of course! Our panels can be installed in new construction or in an existing building structure.

Where are your panels commonly installed?

Our wood fiber acoustical panels can be fastened directly to walls and ceilings. They can also be hung vertically from ceilings (baffles) or suspended horizontally from ceilings (clouds).

Placement varies from project to project based on the conditions and the available space on the walls and ceilings of each space.

How much and what types of materials do I need?

The most efficient way to determine your best acoustical solution is to run a reverberation report for the building space you’re wanting to equip with acoustical panels. We can do this for you (for free). To create a reverberation report, we need:

- Measurements for the length, width, and height of your space.

- Information about your flooring: is it carpet, concrete, metal decking or other?

- Information about your walls: are they drywall, cinder block or other?

- Information about your ceiling: is it wood, metal, drywall or other?

When you have that information in hand, just give us a call at 614-721-3001 or email us at info@cardinalacoustics.com.

We enter this data into an acoustical analysis program, and the test results will show us your current estimated reverberation time (the time it takes sound to travel around your space). We use that to advise you on the square footage and placement of acoustical panels needed to reduce your estimated reverberation time by 50% or 75%. It depends on your preference.

The good news is that we can give you this information right away; there’s no need to call us back later for the results.

How do I get samples of your wood fiber acoustical panels?
